Digging through your back catalog is like finding that Spinners vinyl you didnt know existed. Brandon Roy! That team ran two deep at every position. I was trying to think of a player that Cade Cunningham should aspire to - people seem to focus on his 'shortcomings' - but the best I could come up with was a uneven mashup of CP3 and DeRozan. Roy is a much tighter goal: similar in size and athletic ability, purposeful handle, efficient, versatile, plays under control. It would be nice to see Cade develop (this is barely his third year of actual games played), and Detroit, the city and the team, are due for a rise. And it would be nice to see a modern player that can play and control a game the way Roy did.
Love that comp — Roy knew the extent of his physical abilities and limitations so well. Cade seems to be figuring that out the further into his career he gets, and it would open up so much more on offense. Fully agree on how he controlled the game, too; I love patient guards in an era where speed is so important, and Cade is a great example.
Also, thanks a ton for reading and the thoughtful comment!
Better name: Travis Outlaw or Colt McCoy?

Wow, we Portlanders loved the short, but amazing Brandon Roy era. Thanks.
Better healthy 15 year career: Derrick Rose or Greg Oden?
